Inspiring Communications Training

One effective way of accessing my communications expertise is to attend one of my workshops, now run through a variety of training providers, and therefore to improve your own skills in responsive marketing.

People who have completed one of my courses gain access to continuing tools and up-to-date support information through Resources.

These lively courses encourage you to approach your marketing, press campaigns and written communications in a more professional and effective way and from a customer-focussed viewpoint. They help you understand why your audience might be interested in what you have to offer, which are the best messages to communicate and whether your audiences will hear your message.

The sessions place marketing and communications firmly at the heart of strategic planning but in a highly practical way, through group work, exercises, tutor-led discussion and question and answers. Participants are encouraged to share their own experience, problems and ideas.

Each workshop may be adapted to half- or full-day sessions through a variety of training providers. Workshops can also be personalised, for example for the management team of a single organisation. They can be tailored for sole traders and small enterprises or charities beyond the arts sector.

Following up Understanding the Basics with Targeting Market Segments can be a cost-effective way of gaining a consultancy boost at the start of a new business or re-launch of a project. Sometimes clients will chose to commission an Understanding the Basics day as in-house training for a broader team, such as senior management team or cross-department groups, as energising groundwork for an internal review or business planning exercise.

A new Grounding for Students course is aimed at fine art, design or applied art students and postgraduate students who are approaching their final year – as well as recent alumni newly established as practitioners. Students will gain grounding in the contribution communications should make to their ambitions; and detailed, practical ‘how-to's that will help them avoid glaring mistakes and instil confidence in them as communicators of their work.

The Press and the Written Word specialises in the tricky but attractive area of gaining press coverage; but also addresses copywriting for all purposes, including website, flyers or programme notes. Marketing a Touring Production addresses the particular needs of many of my clients in the performing arts.
